Founder/Executive Director Lindsay Rattay. She writes:
It was their faces. It started with the faces of countless children in snapshots, on television, and those I saw with my own eyes when I would travel to other countries. It was the fear and pain I could see in their eyes. It was the environment around them. Despair and insecurity that no child on Earth should ever have to face, was a routine part of their lives.

It struck a chord deep within me. It touched me, but I wasn’t sure what I could do about it. I tried to comfort my own heart, tried to find a way to understand how fortunate I was to feel the love, safety, and security of friends and family around me. It was then that a distant childhood memory gave me the answer. It perfectly captured that physical expression of hope and love. I realized that I knew a way I could give them that same warmth and provide them a feeling of security. A blanket. We could give each of them a blanket.

I realized that making this a reality was more than I could accomplish on my own. I gathered together a group of like-minded people. Each one has a compassionate heart and a deep love for children who are less fortunate. We know we can’t give them a home or physically comfort each one ourselves. However, we can providing food and shelter to give them a gift of warmth, comfort, and security. We can give each child something of their own- a blanket.

We know that the challenge is great. Our vision will not be hindered by political boundaries or vast distances. We are committed to providing a blanket to any baby or toddler in need. Reaching our goal will stretch us to the ends of the Earth, to every place where there is a child lacking the hope, warmth and security each one of us deserves.

We wish to create a world in which distressed, abandoned, poverty, and orphan children have their basic needs met, feel valued, and have someone recognize that they are special. Every child is a gift and should be treated with honor and dignity.

Each year Blankets for Babies will give hope to thousands of less fortunate mothers, fathers, caregivers and their children. This is accomplished by providing them with what so many take for granted, the warmth and security of a blanket. We will take the time to spend time with the mother, father or caregiver to make them feel valued. We hope by receiving this gift, they will in turn want to impact positively their child’s life. We will be able to accomplish this through partnerships with orphanages, homeless shelters, state hospitals, women’s shelters, unwed mother’s homes and international organizations.

Jill Fritz Secretary
She has been working with children over the past 18 years. She has a degree in education from Grand Canyon University and taught underprivileged children in the downtown Phoenix area. During this time she saw the effects of children living in poverty and abuse. It was amazing to her to see how the smallest gift these children were given was treasured. Now that she is a mother of three children her time is devoted to raising them and teaching and mentoring children and young adults through her church. Her youngest daughter Faith has a blanket she calls "Bebe" that she takes with her everywhere she goes. She sees how much Faith’s “Bebe” has given her security and realized how children in distress could benefit from being given the gift of a blanket to call their own.

Melissa Lehman

Richelle Baddeley
She is a graduate of Arizona State University, with a degree in Elementary Education and ESL. Throughout college, she interned and taught at several underprivileged schools. Those experiences instilled in her such a passion for the lost and hurting children. Instead of going straight into teaching, her passion for children kept her at a Learning Center, where she had also worked during college. She was the Director of the Center, which was something she absolutely loved. Along with the many demands of directing a school of over 250 children it was a joy for her to be able to start a Bible study with the employee and see the Lord move in so many women's lives! She now keeps herself busy working and traveling with her husband.
